2001-2002 School Year Picture

I am first and foremost an educator.  I have a boundless passion to teach. Currently, I am an 8th grade math teacher at Algonquin Middle School in Algonac, MI.  I also dedicate a portion of my time to extracurricular activities with the students. Along with coaching volleyball and track, I designed and implimented a math wizards group at the school. Among my proudest accomplishments, however, at Algonquin was instituting a National Junior Honor Society program at the school. This program has encouraged students to excel in the classroom.

Background History

Education
I graduated from L'Anse Creuse High School North in Macomb County.  After high school, I went to Western Michigan University for a year.  I, then, completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Oakland University.  I returned to school in 2000 through Saginaw Valley State's University Center to earn my Master of Teaching degree in Educational Leadership.  I received my Masters degree in December of 2002.

Family
I have one younger sister and two beautiful nieces.  My parents moved to Grayling, Michigan about 3 years ago. They love to kayak the Au Sable river in the summer and snowmobile in the winter.  My fiance Jim and I just recently bought a home in Otisville.  We were looking for a nice piece of property and we found it here in Genesee County.  We are getting married in Cancun on July 7, 2003.

Favorites

My favorite color is blue.

My favorite movie is "Shawshank Redemption" because it was so cleverly written.

I am an avid reader.  My favorite Educational guides are:
1)  "The First Days of School" by Harry Wong
2)  "Multiple Intelligences"  by Howard Garder
3)  "The Quality School/Teacher" by William Glasser

Some of my favorite fiction books are, Childhood's End and The Giver.
